Up and Out of the Pit

“Lift your eyes from what you despise. Set your sights on me. Look up! Look up child! Don’t look around the pit, all you will see is the darkness that surrounds you and the mud that you are stuck in. If you look to your circumstances you will only be discouraged. You will only be disappointed. You will only feel depression and despair and discouragement. Lift your eyes to me. In the midst of the desolate pit and the muddy mess you are in, look up to me. I am the light at the top of the pit. You may be down low, but the deeper the pit, the higher I will lift you when I pull you out. If you look to me I will give you a higher perspective. My perspective. The perspective of truth.

Give up. Give up. Give up striving. Give up trying to climb out of the hole, only to slip down the moist, muddy walls back into the middle of all the mire, making a huge splash and bigger mess each time. The harder you to struggle the dirtier you get. You may be covered in dirt, filth and mud, but it’s only from your own striving. If you sit still long enough for me to come and move, I can finally reach down and rescue you. But I need you to stop. I need you to give up. I need you to surrender. I need you to be still, to be quiet. When you are quiet and still you will feel me with you. I’ve been here all along, but you’ve been too distracted by looking at the muddy mess and focusing on the darkness. Be still and feel me here, with you. In the mess. In the mud. In the darkness. In the desolate despair. I am here, with you, I’ve never left. Stop. Be still. Feel me. See me. See me in the darkness.

I need you to surrender. I need you to be still, to be quiet. Then you will feel me with you

When your heart finds me, my light can begin to shine. My light will first shine in the pit. It may illuminate the mess, but know I have come to clean that mess, to purify those muddy, murky waters, to cleanse and redeem and restore. As my presence grows and my light illuminates, you will begin to see me arise. I will raise the waters. You thought this was a pit of despair, but it’s my pit of repair. You are at the bottom of a well, my child. The well isn’t dry, it’s dirty. It’s murky. It’s muddy, and you’re stuck at the bottom. Crying. Trying. Striving. Give in, and give up. Then I can come in and flood in and raise you up with my living waters. My water is fresh, clean, pure, life-giving, soul-filling, thirst-quenching. My water is life. The only way out, is up. The only way to get to the top of this pit is to surrender to my living waters. Let me flood in and as my waters rise, give in to the rising of the water. If you fight it or try to swim, it will be a struggle. But if you can give in to the rising tide it will lift you, gracefully, slowly, beautifully. Surrender and rest. Let me lift you up and out. Let my Spirit lift you.

You thought this was a pit of despair, but it’s my pit of repair

Water from my throne room will overflow like a river, your deep well. Up, up, up and out. Then you will be full. Full of me. Then your well will overflow. For then you will overflow with my abundant life. Let go and feel the flow! Let it all go! Surrender yourself to the steady rising of my spirit. Stop fighting the waves, give into them. Be overcome by them. Be submerged by them. Be submerged by my Spirit.

“I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then at last he bent down and listened to my cry. He stooped down to lift me out of danger from the desolate pit I was in, out of the muddy mess I had fallen into. Now he’s lifted, me up into a firm, secure place, and steadied me while I walk along his ascending path.” Psalm 40:1-2 TPT

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, flowing with water as crystal, continuously pouring out from the throne of God and of the Lamb. The river was flowing in the middle of the street of the city, and on either side was the Tree of Life, with its twelve kinds of ripe fruit according to each month of the year. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing on the nations.” Revelation 22:1-2
